Color Consultation & Custom Color
Color Consultation for San Diego Homes and Businesses
Why color is worth getting right
Color is the first thing people notice and the hardest thing to judge from a two-inch chip. The same white can look warm and creamy in a west-facing living room and cold and gray in a north-facing hallway. San Diego’s bright sun, coastal haze and inland heat all change how paint reads, inside and out.
Our color consultation takes the guesswork out. We look at your space at the times of day you use it, consider your floors, counters, roof, stone and landscaping, and narrow the options down to a few colors that work together.
What’s included
- On-site walkthrough to review lighting, architecture and fixed finishes
- Palette recommendations for walls, trim, ceilings, doors and accents
- Sheen selection for durability and cleanability in each room
- Sample testing on your actual walls or exterior surfaces
- Custom color matching to an existing paint, fabric, tile or brand color
- HOA support with color samples and product details for approval
Interior and exterior color schemes
Inside, we help you create flow from room to room and choose finishes that stand up to kids, pets and kitchens. Outside, we balance body, trim and accent colors with your roof and surroundings, and recommend fade-resistant products for full-sun walls. When you’re ready, our crews handle the interior painting or exterior painting from start to finish.
For businesses
For offices, restaurants and retail spaces, we match brand colors accurately and recommend durable commercial coatings. See our commercial painting services.

What our clients say
★★★★★ 5.0 rating from 37 Google reviews
We recommended Stokeys Painting to a customer of ours a couple years ago and we haven't stopped referring them since! What impressed us the most is their customer service and the way they prep a home. They put a lot of care into protecting your investment and ensuring the longest lasting results possible.
Highly recomend! From start to finish we had the best service. Jaime was always sure to get back to me timely regarding my questions. He also was very gracious when I added, removed and added jobs during the quote process. Art, the project manager checked in and out every day on progress and where they would be starting the next day. The whole team was polite, professional and friendly. Thank you all for beautifying my home!
Would highly recommend Jaime and team for all your painting needs. Could not of asked for a better experience. Everything you would want in a contractor. From the fast response to the initial inquiry to the completion of the job to our satisfaction, everything was A+. Thanks to all, especially Nick, who worked so hard.

Color consultation questions
Is color consultation included with a painting project?
Basic color guidance is part of every project we paint. For larger homes, full exterior color schemes or commercial branding, we can set aside dedicated time for a more detailed consultation. Ask about it during your free walkthrough.
Can you match a color I already have?
Yes. We can match paint from an existing wall, a fabric, tile or another sample, and adjust the formula so it looks right in your lighting.
Why does a color look different on my wall than on the chip?
Paint chips are small and viewed under store lighting. On a full wall, color is affected by daylight direction, the size of the room, nearby surfaces and the sheen. That's why we test samples in your space before you decide.
Do I need HOA approval for exterior colors?
Many San Diego communities require HOA or association approval for exterior color changes. We can prepare color samples and the paint information you need for your submission.
